Rising Pune Supergiant seal play-offs spot

Brilliant bowling spells from Shardul Thakur and Jaydev Unadkat helped Rising Pune Supergiant to confirm their place in the ongoing Indian Premier League’s (IPL’s) play-offs as they thrashed Kings XI Punjab by 9 wickets on the last day of the league clashes.

Having been asked to bat first at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Pune, clinical performance from the Rising Super Giant bowlers, led by Shardul Thakur restricted Kings XI Punjab to only 73.

The pacer from Mumbai ended with figures of 3-19, while Jaydev Unadkat supported from the other end with a fiery spell. Unadkat picked up 2 wickets conceding only 12 runs.

Chasing a low total of 73, Rising Pune Supergiants batsmen done their job very smartly with taking no risk. Opener Ajinkya Rahane made sure to last the till the end of the chase, and hit the winning runs too.

He was the top scorer with an unbeaten 34-ball 34 runs knock while his partner Rahul Tripathi smashed 28 off 20 balls before going back to the pavilion. For Kings XI Punjab Axar Patel was the only bowler who could dismiss a RPS batsman.

However, with this victory Rising Pune Supergiants have sealed a spot in the first qualifier against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.
