Rohit, Jadhav's departure for Champions Trophy delayed

Champions Trophy holders India have left for England on Wednesday night to take part in this year’s event. But only 13 players left including captain Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav had to stay in India due to wedding and visa issue.

India announced their Champions Trophy squad few weeks ago. That included Rohit and Jadhav. It was an ODI recall for Rohit, who missed the ODI series against England due to injury while it was the first call-up for an ICC tournament for Jadhav.

But these to have to wait for few days. Opening batsman Rohit asked a few days of leave from the BCCI to attend his cousin’s marriage ceremony. The authority granted his leave.

Kedar Jadhav have a different issue. His United Kingdom VISA did not arrive in time to travel with his teammates. The batsman is now expected to fly on Friday.

India will play their first warm-up game on May 28 against New Zealand. The second warm-up game will be against Bangladesh on May 30. A BCCI official said that both these players will be available for both matches.

“Rohit Sharma had made his request a long time back. So the BCCI agreed to the request,” a BCCI official said, “His (Jadhav) visa is cleared now and he is expected to leave on Friday. We waited for it earlier but nothing happened till late on Wednesday evening. Both players will be available for first warm up game on May 28.”
