Barely a week ago before the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh gained a morale booster against New Zealand claiming their first away victory. The dependable middle order duo Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad posted the landmark victory at ease though at one stage the match seemed to be slipped away.
World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan shined with the ball taking two important wickets of the Kiwi line-up. With those two in his bag, Shakib became the highest wicket taker between these two countries in one day international.
Previously Kyle Mills was in the position with 33 wickets in 17 matches. Shakib surpassed Mills on Wednesday taking two more wickets that of Corey Anderson and Mitchell Santner to elevate his tally to 35.
Shakib played 21 matches to capture 35 wickets. Bangladesh bagged a 5 wicket win against New Zealand but failed to clinch the title on account of shared points with Ireland in the first match of the Tri-Nation Series.
