Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has been selected as the captain of the best eleven of ICC Champions Trophy. Sourav played 13 matches of the ICC showpiece event and scored 665 runs in an average of 73.88. His best score is an unbeaten 141.
Caribbean maestro Chris Gayle is the first choice of CA in the team. Gayle has been the leading run scorer in the history of the tournament. In 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, Chris Gayle hammered three hundreds scoring at an average of 79 and had been adjudged man of the tournament.
Herschelle Gibbs was the other opener who have been picked up along with Chris Gayle. Besides his batting, superb fielding skills elevated Gibbs’ position in any playing XI in the cricket world.
One of the greatest all – rounders of all time, Jacques Henry Kallis has been enlisted in the team at the number four position. In an average of 46.64, Kallis scored 653 runs playing 17 Champions Trophy matches. The master all – rounder also grabbed 20 wickets.
In the middle order of the all-time best eleven, Australia’s compact batsman Damien Martin partnered with the ‘wall of India’ Rahul Dravid. In 12 matches, Martin’s score is 492 in an average of 61.50 while Dravid played 19 matches scoring 627 runs in an average of 48.23.
The bowling line up of the all-time best eleven comprised of great spinners like Daniel Vettori and Muttiah Muralitharan.
Vettori’s wicket tally in the ICC Champions Trophy is 18 while Sri Lankan spin wizard claimed 24 wickets in the tournament.
