Pace bowling all rounder is considered as part and parcel of any team specially when the team play in the English condition. Almost every teams feature at least one pace bowling allrounder in their Champions Trophy squad. But there is no such specialist all rounder in the Bangladesh team.
Bangladesh squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy features 6 specialist batsmen, 2 spinners, 5 pacers and 2 spin-bowling allrounder. Although Soumya he can be considered as a handy bowler, he can’t be termed as specialist pace bowling all rounder as his performance was never impressive with the bowl.
Ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in England and Walse, Tiger opener Tamim Iqbal also feels the importance of a pace bowling all-rounder in his side. He said a pace bowling was needed in the team.
“We can improve in all three departments. Maybe we don’t have a good seam bowling all-rounder that most teams have. This is an area we should focus on at the U-19 or U-17 levels. It’s very important to have pace bowling all-rounders in the team,” said Tamim.
Tamim also talked about importance of the first game against England. He thinks it will be a crucial game for them but at the same time they believes his side are capable of beating the hosts.
“Every game is important but the first match is crucial because it gives you an indication of where you are heading. England are one of the best teams in the world and they are more dominant on their home turf. But nobody is unbeatable. We are not thinking how good they are; we are more focused on our own game. And we are a team that believes nothing is impossible,” he added.
