Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Saturday at his residential place in Dhaka claimed that the board had confirmed programmes with England and New Zealand, while adding they were in talks with two other countries.
Papon also made it clear in front of the media that neither the Bangladesh national team nor the High Performance or Under-19s would be touring Pakistan, before adding: “They will go elsewhere. We have confirmed programmes with New Zealand and England. We are in talks with two more countries. Within a couple of months, we will be releasing the specific schedules. Many of these series will be held at home.
“I am not too keen about the Pakistan tour. But if we need to play [in that time], we have four or five countries lined up to play against Bangladesh. It won’t be hard to arrange matches, but right now we are not really keen on filling that gap either,” Papon was quoted as saying by ESPNCricInfo.
Papon is off the view that after a long tiring season and prior to some more busy schedules in the later months, he would rather the players rested in July.
The BCB boss discussed about the number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan too, revealing that he was concerned about Shakib’s recent off-form before adding that he hoped the maverick all-rounder would come back to his natural devastating form as soon as possible.
