Shahid Afridi had recently written in a column for the International Cricket Council (ICC) that he has a friendly relation with all of the Indian players except Gautam Gambhir. Because he thinks Gambhir is still holding on to their heated confrontation that took place in an India versus Pakistan clash in the third ODI in Kanpur in 2007.
“While I have moved on in life as I feel these things are part and parcel of the game, Gautam for some reason can’t get over it. Good luck to him!” wrote Afridi in his column for the International Cricket Council.
When asked by the the presenter about the Afridi comments Gambhir replied by saying,
“I’ve said this before that his(Afridi’s) brain hasn’t developed according to his age. So even if he has said something like this it shouldn’t be taken seriously.”
Shoaib Akhtar tried to play the role of the mediator and laughed Gambhir’s comments off saying that both Afridi and Gambhir have had a misunderstanding as both players are good humans. He said that he wouldn’t be surprised if they hug when they meet for the next time.
India and Pakistan will play each other in a highly anticipated encounter at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India are being deemed the favorites to win the match.
