Bangladesh are still alive in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 as the match between the Tigers and Australia ended in no result due to heavy showers at The Oval in the fifth match. Now, everything is possible in Group A. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ লক্ষ্য একটাই, হারাতে হবে নিউজিল্যান্ডকে]
Bangladesh must defeat New Zealand in their last group match on June 9 in Cardiff. They need to hope hosts England to win against New Zealand Tuesday and Australia on June 10. This is the simplest equation for Bangladesh right now to qualify for the Semifinals.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has reminded of 2015 World Cup when they got a point from Australia in a washout in Brisbane which helped them qualify for the Quarterfinals. He knows that the Tigers have to play hard against Blackcaps.
“I can remember in the 2015 World Cup, we got one point from Australia and it really helped us go through. This time we’ve got a straight chance, even though we have to beat New Zealand. So our job is to play hard against New Zealand and you never know,” said Mashrafe.
“If you look at today’s match, I think Australia was far ahead of us. But in the last match, against New Zealand, I think Australia were in the same position. You can’t do anything with the weather so, as I said, both teams are now in the situation where Australia has to win against England and we have a great chance to beat New Zealand and go through,” he added.
