Bangladesh reach Birmingham for semi-final clash

Bangladesh have reached Birmingham to play the second semi-final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston. They will take on India in their race to Final.

It was already fixed that Bangladesh squad will leave Cardiff on June 11. If they had been knocked out, they would leave. But as they qualified, they stayed at Hotel Hyatt Regency. They travelled almost four hours in their bus route from Cardiff to Birmingham. They reached Birmingham at 4 pm local time (9 pm BdST).

The Tigers will have a rest day on Monday. They will start practice for the semi-final on Tuesday at 10 am.

Bangladesh qualified to the semis from Group A with three points. After gaining a point from washout against Australia, they defeated New Zealand by five wickets in Cardiff. The next day, England’s 40-run (DLS) win over Australia confirmed Bangladesh’s qualification.

As India are crowned group champions of Group B with wins against Pakistan and South Africa, they will meet Bangladesh on June 15 in the second semi-final.

Bangladesh were in Birmingham during the warm-up games. They played against Pakistan at Edgbaston which they lost by two wickets defending 341. They will aim to do better at this ground against defending champions India.
