However, sources revealed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) could propose the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for additional bilateral series against besides the current FTP, when the board officials meet in the sidelines of the ongoing ICC Annual Conference Week in London.
Apart from this, there is also high possibility of BCB offering both BCCI and ECB to have a tri-nation series between these three teams sometime within 2019.
Confirming the matter, BCB’s media committee chairman Jalal Yunus Chowdhury said, “During this high-profile annual meetings, there always arises such possibility of talk between board officials to discuss about additional bilateral series in future. Nowadays we don’t get to play much cricket against India and England. But now we are a team on the rise. So I think this is the time we could ask them for some series with us.”
According to Yunus, the just concluded ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales was a reality check for ECB, as tens of thousands of Bangladeshi fans turned up in every Bangladeshi matches of the tournament, which proved that matches against Bangladesh in countries like England and Australia can cause no more financial loss to them.
“England too have realized this time how much financial benefit can they make if Bangladesh go to play in their country. Whenever Bangladesh play a match, the stadium is housefull. So it is more financially beneficiary to play against Bangladesh in their home conditions than again some other teams,” he claimed.
