Bangladesh now need England to beat Australia at Edgbaston in Group A to secure Semi-final spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. But the skipper isn’t thinking about it much. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ “অস্ট্রেলিয়াকে বলতে পারি না হেরে যাও”]
Bangladesh created their chances after sealing a memorable five-wicket victory against New Zealand in Cardiff. Cardiff has been a lucky ground for Bangladesh. They had defeated Australia in 2005. Now, they pulled off another magic.
“It’s a great feeling. I was here both times [in 2005 and here against New Zealand yesterday]. The boys made the chances count and that’s a great feeling,” said skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
If England win today against Australia, the mighty Aussies will be sent home with their neighbouring country New Zealand. They currently have 2 points. If the match gets washed out, in this case also they will be knocked out.
Mashrafe wishes best of luck to both teams in today’s epic encounter, but told that the Tigers will put up better performance if they quaify.
He said, “I don’t know whether we will play in the Semi-final, but if we do then we will put up a much better performance. If we can’t make it to the Semi-finals then there’s nothing we can do. We achieved what we wanted to in this match. I can’t ask Australia to lose the match, so I wish the best of luck to both teams.”
