Shikhar Dhawan has hit his third hundred in seven Champions Trophy matches in the eighth match against Sri Lanka at The Oval. It was his tenth ODI ton in all.
He has made a bigger score against Sri Lanka on Thursday. After India were sent into bat, Dhawan shared a 138-run partnership with his opening partner Rohit Sharma. Of these two, Dhawan was a bit slower. He brought up his 50th run in 69 balls.
As he got his fifty, he didn’t spoil his start. The left-hander continued on and reached his 10th ODI century in 112 balls. He finished up scoring 128-ball 125 hitting 15 fours and a six. He became the fourth man to hit three centuries in Champions Trophy. Herschelle Gibbs, Chris Gayle and Dhawan’s countryman Sourav Ganguly had three tons in the tournament.
Dhawan has played seven games in Champions Trophy since 2013 and aggregated 556 runs at an average of 92.66. Today’s 125 was his highest. In 15 matches in ICC’s global ODI tournaments, Dhawan has five centuries in 15 innings with 968 runs at 69 average.
