Bangladesh were wobbling for 33/4 in their 265 run-chase. Shakib Al Hasan ans Mahmudullah Riyad scored centuries to give Bangladesh a memorable victory which also went out to seal Tigers’ semi-final spot.
Mosaddek came in when Shakib was bowled by Trent Boult for 114 in the 47th over. Mahmudullah brought up his hundred in the same over. Bangladesh required two runs off three overs. In the second ball of the 48th over off Adam Milne, Mosaddek slashed to a full length ball outside the off-stump in between the slips and gully. It went for a boundary which completed Bangladesh’s win.
“To be honest, I never thought that I would get the opportunity to blast the winning shot and seal a historic win for my country. It was like a dream come true for me as I never hit the winning shot in an international game, although I have a few of those in domestic circuit. And when we needed only two to win in the 48th over, I made up my mind that I will finish the game with a boundary as the fielders were inside the circle,” said thrilled Mosaddek.
“I went for it and the rest is history. This was the best moment of my life as we knew that it will give us a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. And Alhamdulillah, we eventually did it,” he added.
