‘England obviously up against Bangladesh’

England up against Bangladesh

Considering England as the sure-shot favorites to lift the championship in this ICC Champions Trophy 2017, England’s long-time discarded batsman Ian Bell wrote in his special column in the ICC official website that they are ‘obviously up aganst Bangladesh’.

“We’re obviously up against Bangladesh tomorrow and I’ve been asked several times over the last couple of weeks whether it’s an opportunity to bury the ghost of our loss in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, but personally, I don’t think these boys will be giving that one iota of thought,” he wrote.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a transformation on the approach to 50-over cricket and with our big hitters, we’ve seen just how possible it is for the guys to rack up big scores,” he added.

Since the ICC World Cup 2015 in which England were knocked out by this very Bangladesh team, they have in tremendous form for last two years. While they had scored 300-plus scores in their 50-over history only 34 times before 2015 World Cup, they have done it 21 times in just last 24 months. And of those 21 matches, they came out victorious on 15 occasions.

Admitting that Bangladesh have the ability to win the match, Bell once again reiterated that this time England are probably going to have the last laugh.

“As I say, Bangladesh is capable of winning this – we’ve seen that time and time again, but if England is going to win this tournament, it’ll need to win this fairly trouble-free. And I suspect England will!”
