England restrict Aussies to 277/9

England have restricted Australia to 277/9 in the last match of Group A of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Aussie lower order collapsed at the end.

The toss was won by the hosts as they opted to bowl. Australia lost dangerous David Warner early for 21. Skipper Steve Smith stood up big time. He made a 96-run partnership with Aaron Finch. Finch scored a brisk 16th ODI fifty, 68 off 64 hitting 8 boundaries.

Smith made an important 77-ball 56 with 5 fours. Mark Wood got the better of him as the Aussies were dropped down to 4/181. Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell took their responsibilities. The added 58 runs for the fifth wicket. Maxwell was sent back for 20 by Wood with a sensational catch from Jason Roy at deep mid-wicket.

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid created more troubles for Australia as he went through the middle and lower orders. He bowled a superb spell of four wickets for 41 runs in ten overs.

Australia were collapsing at the death. 300+ total was looking out of the sight. But Head continued on and smashed unbeaten 71 runs from 64 deliveries hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. He gave his team a competitive score.

Seamer Wood also took four wickets as Rashid. He cost 33 runs only in his ten-over spell. Ben Stokes was expensive for his one for 61 in eight overs.
