In that particular match, India came out victorius by a margin of 5 wickets, and hence they are the defending champions of the competition this year.

When India captain Virat Kohli was asked about the prospect of another India-England final in the Champions Trophy, the aggressive batsman said his team is ready for any rivals. However, he also believes that everyone wants to see a final between England and India.

Asked which team he would prefer to come up against in the finals, he added: “Anyone. We would just be happy to be in the finals.”

He also added, “It would not have mattered who we were playing in the semis. The league phase is the toughest. We have an opportunity to win one game and enter the finals. Everyone wants to see an India-England final. If both teams play well, people might get what they want to see.”

India will take on Bangladesh in the second semifinal on Thursday (June 15) in Birmingham after England and Pakistan play out the first last-four clash on Wednesday (June 14) in Cardiff.
