Gavaskar doesn't think India can reach the semis
Sunil Gavaskar feels India might not qualify for the Champions Trophy semifinals.

The Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar fears that India won’t qualify for the Champions Trophy 2017 Semifinals. Ahead of the virtual quarter-final between India and South Africa at The Oval, Sunil Gavaskar has labeled South Africa as favorites to go through to the semi-final of the tournament.

“India’s record against South Africa hasn’t been good. If you take a look at what happened a couple of years back when South Africa were in India, they walloped India, so I am not too comfortable, not too optimistic about what is going to happen on Sunday,” said the 1st man to score more than 10,000 runs in test match cricket.

Gavaskar added that he would be delighted if his predictions are proven wrong and India goes on to play in the semis.

“I would be delighted to be proven wrong by an Indian team that plays well than they have so far in the previous games and fields a lot better  If spinners bowl well, just like Pakistani spinners did against South Africa then who knows?,” said Gavaskar.

However, halfway into the match, it’s India who are looking favorites to win the match. They have restricted South Africa to a poultry score of 191. Winner of today’s match will go on to face Bangladesh on 15 June.
