India sent Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss. After a 10-minute delayed start, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Soumya Sarkar for a duck in the first over. Sabbir Rahman got a good start but threw it away scoring 19 off 21.
Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim were the saviours for Bangladesh again. They put on a century partnership for the second time in the tournament. The pair added 123 runs for the fourth wicket. Both batsmen scored half-centuries.
Bhuvneshwar, Bumrah and Kedar took two wickets each. Bangladesh put a modest 264/7 on board.
In reply, India made a flying start. The Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma opening partnership added 87 runs. Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bowled a long spell to break this partnership. Dhawan was sent back for brisk 46 runs off 34 balls hitting 7 fours and a six.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli kept the momentum going in India’s way. Rohit brought up his 11th ODI century in 111 balls. It was his second century against Bangladesh. He hammered unbeaten 123 runs from 129 deliveries with 15 fours and a six.
Kohli fell short of his hundred but completed 8000 ODI runs. He made 96* runs off just 78 balls including 13 fours. He hit Sabbir for a four in the first ball of 41st over to seal nine-wicket victory.
