Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has said that he is not concerned about Shakib Al Hasan’s current poor form. He wants contributions from others if the number one all-rounder fails. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সাকিবের ফর্ম নিয়ে চিন্তিত নন মাশরাফি]
Shakib has been out of form since Ireland tri-series. He was gloomy in the first match against England too. Mashrafe thinks a top player performing on big stages is a matter of luck but believes that the tournament will be tough for Tigers if he fails.
“It’s always a matter of luck to have big players in form on big stages. Shakib always has been doing his job. He is trying his best. He bowled at the start last game but could not succeed even he gave his best,” he said.
“Wicket is a big factor. It often happens that he doesn’t get the desired wish which he wants. If he fails, it might be a tough tournament for us. But we are not concerned about Shakib’s return to form or if he is a top player or not.”
As the world number one all-rounder is not performing, the Bangladesh skipper wants more contributions from others which will somehow fill the gap.
“If he can’t play at his level, the rest of the guys have to widen their contributions. It happens in a team. It is also difficult to expect a top player to be in same form always,” said Mashrafe.
Bangladesh will face Australia on Monday in the fifth match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at The Oval. It’s a do or die match for Tigers. Can Shakib shine this time?
