Mashrafe relying on middle-order trio

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is relying on middle-order trio for the New Zealand game in Cardiff as Tigers aim to stay alive in the Champions Trophy.

He said that the team has firepower in the middle-order which consists Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad. Captain is hopeful that these three will come good against the Blackcaps on Friday.

“We have the firepower in the middle. Mushfiqur scored against England, Shakib got a start against Australia, Mahmudullah was in good form in Ireland,” said Mashrafe.

“They are the players who can change the course of a game. We can win from a really bad situation if they are around. I am hoping that they will rise on the big situation, which is coming up tomorrow (Friday),” he added.

Mashrafe also said that the Tigers know their limitations and strengths. He hopes to end the tournament positively after getting a lucky point from washed out Australia match.

“Everyone is excited. We knew that these three matches would be difficult for us. We know our limitations and strengths, so we are basing our game on those lines. We were lucky against Australia to get a point; we didn’t play too badly against England. We are still in the tournament, with a game in hand. I can feel it in the dressing room. We want to have a positive end to this tournament.”
