Just one and a half year ago when Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team was playing in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 at home, its captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz had no idea whatsoever that he would soon get a national call-up. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ আমি ওনার কাছ থেকে এটা শিখার চেষ্টা করছি]
And now, only some time down the line, Miraz is in the Tigers squad that is looking to earn a place in the last four of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales.
For Miraz, this is quite like a dream come true situation, and he is living the dream to the fullest.
“I am living my dream as I never thought of playing for the national team, and indeed not in the Champions Trophy. I always wanted to play at such venues as I watched matches on TV,” said Miraz during an exclusive interview to Dhaka Tribune.
“Although I have been to England during my U-19 days, you know this is different. You see, even last year, I was playing for Bangladesh U-19 team and all of a sudden, my life changed so dramatically. But yes, for the better,” a smiling Miraz added.
The Khulna lad once again reiterated that Shakib Al Hasan is his role model, and said he wants to improve his batting as he is currently more than confident with his off spinners.
“If you have noticed Shakib bhai you will see that he tries to be the best when he goes out to bat and also when he has the ball in hand. I think that’s an extraordinary quality of him which I always look up to and try to learn from.
“I am more than confident with my bowling but I know I have to work harder on my batting if I really want to become a better all-rounder,” said the level-headed Miraz.
