No more chances of Ban-Pak series

A bilateral full series between Bangladesh and Pakistan, which was scheduled to be played in Bangladesh in July-August this year, doesn’t have any chance of being held. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ বাংলাদেশ-পাকিস্তান সিরিজের সম্ভাবনা কতটুকু?]

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has informed that the board will not wait any longer for Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board hadn’t responded to BCB’s proposed fixture for the series. So, BCB has assumed that the series is not going to happen.

“Our president (Nazmul Hassan Papon) had already said that there is no chance. Australia are coming ahead. There won’t be enough time to play a series with Pakistan. As they haven’t responded (after sending proposed fixture), we can assume that this series isn’t happening,” Jalal told the media on Tuesday.

Bangladesh are scheduled to host Pakistan again in March-April 2019. If Pakistan want to play, Bangladesh don’t have any bother.

“It’s very tough to say. We already have said that we will negotiate with them. If they want to play with us again, then we are agreed too.”

BCB’s relation with PCB is not good in recent times. Bangladesh board refused to send a High Performance Unit squad to Pakistan. Soon, PCB decided to pull of Bangladesh tour. Jalal thinks this problem can be solved by discussions between the two boards.

“I think it’s a suspensive matter. Their ego might be the reason. I don’t know exactly. But I don’t think it’s a permanent matter. This can be solved by discussions,” he added.

Pakistan toured Bangladesh in 2015 for three ODIs, one T20I and two Tests. The ODI and T20I series was won by Bangladesh by 3-0 and 1-0 for the first time against this opposition. However, Pakistan went back home with a 1-0 series victory in Tests.
