But they did not let that happen as the Men in Green came back very strongly in their next matches and marched into the Champions Trophy semi-finals following back- to-back wins against South Africa and Asian rivals Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will now face India in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy final on Sunday. If they manage to win the match against the arch-rival to seal the Champions Trophy title for the first time in their history, they will catapult themselves to number six in the One-day International rankings.
It will not just only help them to overtake Bangladesh in the ICC ranking but also will confirm their direct place in the World Cup 2019 without any need of playing the qualifier round.
