Magic boy Rashid Khan has bowled the fourth best bowling figures in the history of ODI. The leg-spinner has taken seven wickets for 18 runs against West Indies in the first ODI in Gros Islet.
After a 3-0 whitewash by West Indies in the T20I series, Afghanistan have finally showed their best performance with a 63-run victory over West Indies in the ODI series opener.
Afghanistan posted 212/6 in 50 overs after electing to bat first. Javed Ahmadi scored 81 runs off 102 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes at the top. There weren’t not much contributions from others apart from Gulbadin Naib, who hammered 28-ball 41* hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Ashley Nurse took two wickets for 34 runs.
In reply, leg-spinner Rashid showed magic with the ball. He started picking up wickets from the 23rd over. One by one, he dismissed Jason Mohammed, Roston Chase, Shai Hope, Jason Holder, Nurse, Alzarri Joseph and Miguel Cummins.
West Indies were dismissed for 149 runs in 44.4 overs. Afghanistan sealed their first ODI victory over the Caribbeans by 63 runs and took 1-0 lead in three-match series.
Rashid took a five-wicket haul for the second time in his career. He bowled the best bowling figures by an associate bowler of 7 for 18 in 8.4 overs including a maiden. Overall, this is the fourth best.
