Bangladesh all rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been awarded Man of the Match after smashing a match winning century against New Zealand in a must win game to keep the side’s hope alive in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.
The number one ranked all rounder scored 114 off 115 balls before going back to the pavilion in the 47th over. He was out only when victory was almost assured, with just nine runs needed off 21 deliveries.
The 30-year old Bangladesh cricketer has hit 11 Fours and a Six during his match winning knock. Shakib along with Mahmudullah Riyad made a flawless 225-run fifth-wicket partnership on the middle that delivered victory by five wickets with 16 balls to spare.
Shakib was delighted after playing the match winning knock. “Winning a match in an ICC tournament is a big thing and we have come a long way in the last two years. From here on we can only go forward,” he said.
