Shakib-Mahmudullah’s partnership is a lesson – Ganguly

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is a less popular name among dedicated Bangladeshi cricket fans for his random criticize and harsh comments towards their team. Sourav Ganguly who was one of the commentator in Cardiff during the historic match between Bangladesh Cricket team and New Zealand Cricket team. Tiger batsmen Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad formed a match-winning 224 runs partnership for the fifth wicket chasing the total set by New Zealand after batting.

The Prince of Kolkata did not hesitated to praise after witnessing the partnership. He said, “The footage of this partnership should definitely be shown to the upcoming cricketers. It should inspire them. Shakib and Mahmudullah have shown how to bat under pressure. It’s a big lesson for the youngsters.”

Bangladesh Cricket team lost their four wickets for only 33 runs in the do- or die match. Many predicted of another humiliation such as getting all-out for 88 in the practice match against India. Also numerous fan soon started to leave the stadium and many as well switched off their televisions at home.

But they all missed an historic partnership. The Bangladesh cricketers generally lack in taking singles and doubles. Shakib and Mahmudullah turned that myth taking more than hundred out of their 224 runs partnership from rotating the strike.

In the end Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten for 102 runs with the help of just seven boundaries and a Six. On the other hand Shakib scored 114 runs before getting out but not before striking a big six and 11 boundaries. That is why Sourav Ganguly believe this partnership should be a lesson for the upcoming Bangladeshi cricketers.
