Bangladesh’s maverick all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is in front of another record in his career. He is just less than 40 runs away from completing 5000 runs in ODIs. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সাকিবের দরকার ৩২ রান]
Shakib has played 176 ODIs for Bangladesh and scored 4968 runs in 166 innings at an average of 34.98 and a strike rate of 81.22. He hit seven centuries and 34 fifties. He recently smashed a match-winning knock of 114 runs off 115 balls against New Zealand in Cardiff.
Currently, the world number one allrounder is Bangladesh’s second leading run-scorer in ODIs behind Tamim Iqbal’s tally of 5673 runs.
Bangladesh have already qualified for the semi-finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and are set to face India on June 15. If Shakib gets those 32 runs in the match, he will be the second Bangladeshi to complete 5000 ODI runs. Overall, he will be the 80th batsman to do so.
With 4968 runs, Shakib also has 224 wickets in 173 innings. He will be only the fifth man in the history to have 5000 runs and 200 wickets in ODIs after getting those required 32 runs.
Only Sanath Jayasuriya (13430 runs and 323 wickets in 445 matches), Jacques Kallis (11579 runs and 273 wickets in 328 matches), Shahid Afridi (8064 runs and 395 wickets in 398 matches), and Abdul Razzaq (5080 runs and 269 wickets in 265 matches) have excess of 5000 runs and 200 wickets in ODIs.
