Smith mulls a change to Australia's bowling attack

Steve Smith led Australia will be taking on Bangladesh in their second ICC Champions Trophy 2017 match within a few hours.

Ahead of the important match against Bangladesh, Australian captain Steve Smith hinted that the side might include Adam Zampa in the playing XI for their clash against Bangladesh.

“It is a used wicket, the same one that South Africa and Sri Lanka played on yesterday. And The Oval can take some spin, so we’ve certainly got that in our mind,” Smith said.

To include the leg-spinner into the side, either John Hastings or Pat Cummins’ would have to sacrifice their place in the playing XI. Smith however, is not confirmed yet whether he would prefer Zampa over them or not. He said, “But again, we’ll have to have a look tomorrow.”

The Aussie captain also admitted that their performance against New Zealand in the previous match was not a good one. But in the meantime time he hoped that it was only restricted to one game.

“They were pretty fiery in the nets today. I copped quite a few short ones so maybe they are listening, which is good. As I said it wasn’t our best performance, hopefully it was a little bit of rust,” he added.

Apart from Zampa’s inclusion, there are unlikely to be changes, with Smith hoping for an improved performance from an opening game where he admitted they were “rusty
