Essex County Cricket Club has offered the Chittagong lad to play for them in the Natwest T20 Blast. In this shortest format extravaganza, Essex play with the name of Essex Eagles.

It has been learnt that Tamim received the offer after his 128 runs against England in the tournament opener followed by another 95-run knock in the second match against Australia.

Initially, Tamim had some preliminary conversation with Essex authority. Getting Tamim’s nod, they have also sent the batsman an official contract paper.

There’s no reason for Tamim to not sign the contract paper. Because there is no international series for Bangladesh during the T20 Blast. Still, it won’t be an easy task for him as he too will need some rest in midst of jam-packed international schedules.

After two-month long European tour, Tamim will return home with his other teammates in a few days’ time. On the other hand, the Natwest T20 Blast will begin from July 7. If Tamim does participate there, he will have to get busy once again after his return to Bangladesh because of the Australia series starting from August 27.

Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate is the captain of Essex Eagles. If Tamim agrees to play for them, he will also share the dressing room with the likes of Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara, Ashar Zaidi, James Foster. Chelmsford County Ground is the home venue of the team.

Earlier Tamim had played for England’s domestic T20 tournament back in 2011 for Nottinghamshire. But that time, he had had the opportunity to play only five matches. Maybe this time he will get more matches to play.

Before the final of the Champions Trophy 2017, Tamim is the third leading run-scorer of the tournament with 293 runs in 4 innings with an average of 73.25.
