It was a lifelong dream for Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal to see his favourite sportsman Cristiano Ronaldo in flesh, and watch his favourite team Real Madrid’s match live from the stands. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ তামিমের পুরো টাকাই উসুল]
And what he witnessed in Cardiff on Saturday night will perhaps go down as a lifetime experience for him. He not only saw his icon Ronaldo in flesh, but also saw him scoring two goals in the final against Juventus and helping the Spanish giants Real Madrid become the first team in history to win two UEFA Champions Leagues in two years.
In the match which was supposed to be a war between Real Madrid’s attack and Juventus’s defense, the former won the match by 4-1 with the help of a brace from Ronaldo, and one goal each from Casemero and Marco Asensio. Mario Mandzukic was the only goalscorer for Juventus.
The first half ended at 1-1. Ronaldo was the first to score in the 20nd minute of the match to give Real a lead. But just seven minutes later, Mandzukic brought Juventus the equalizer through a brilliant by-cycle kick.
The second half of the match was totally dominated by the Spaniards. Casemero gave them the upper hand in the 66th minute before Ronaldo extended the leading within two minutes. The match was virtually finished just there. And then in the 82nd minute of the game, Marco Asensio scored to finish it off in style for Real.
This is Real Madrid’s 12nd Champions League title. This is also their third Champions League in four years, the first time the European Cup has been successfully defended in its new format.
