The role of ‘one condition’ behind Nasir’s 477

Nasir looking to re-establish his place

Before signing with Gazi Group Cricketers prior to the beginning of the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL), Nasir Hossain had given one condition to the team management, and said he would be in their team only if his condition was granted. It was to bat at number four, revealed Nasir himself. “Before signing with Gazi Group Cricketers, I had told the coach Salahuddin sir that I could play for his team only on one condition, and that is that they had to bat me at number four, otherwise I wouldn’t play. And Salahuddin sir was totally okay with it, and he agreed.”

So far Nasir has been in fantastically extraordinary in this DPL. He has already scored 477 runs in just 7 matches with 2 centuries and 3 half centuries to his name. And because of remaining not out on 6 innings of those matches, Nasir currently holds an unbelievable batting average of 477!

“In the last season I had an average of around 75. I was not out on 4-5 occasions while I didn’t get to bat in another 3-4 matches. So I couldn’t hit any centuries. My best was only 97. So I decided to bat up the order this season, and the trick really paid off for me. Already I have got two centuries and three half centuries,” said a satisfied Nasir.

Despite batting so well, Nasir’s dream is going to be unfulfilled. His dream was to score at least 900 runs and become the highest run-getter of the season. But that’s probably not possibly anymore, as he missed several matches because of his trip to England and Ireland with the national team in midst of the competition.
