The Bangladesh Cricket team started the match against the mighty Australian Cricket team with a critical do or die situation ahead of them in the Oval yesterday. But some disastrous batting by the Men In Red and Green batsmen made it very difficult for the team during the innings break. But the nature arrived with disguised blessing for them, as the match has ended without any result due to heavy rain. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ মাশরাফিদের সামনে সেমি-ফাইনালে খেলার হাতছানি]
Before that the Australian batsmen were cruising towards the modest target of under 200 set by the Bangladesh Cricket team. The world champions scored 83 runs in a decent run rate in their 16 overs. And just when everyone thought that they are on their way for a convincing win the rain interrupted in the match.
The grounds men worked very hard so that the match could resume but in the end the match officials had no other choice but to announce the match abandoned. Therefore, both the teams will share a point each and it has brought Bangladesh a big life line in their ICC Champions trophy mission.
They still remain in the contest for the Semi-Final of the tournament. Mainly they will have to win their remaining match against the New Zealand, then they will have to wait for the results of the other matches in the Group- A.
In group- A, the host England are leading the points table with three points after their win in the opening match of the tournament against the Tigers. The other three teams- Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand has one points each. Which shows the possibility of all four teams to qualify in Semi-Final.
The equation for Bangladesh Cricket team is as we said they need to defeat New Zealand in their remaining match. And also hope the host England could go on and beat both the Trans-Tasman rivals in their two upcoming matches.
Therefore- the Tigers will now also keep a close eye in the England versus New Zealand and the England versus Australia matches. And if all goes well and Bangladesh also earn a victory in their last match, they will reach the Semi-Final of an ICC even for the first time in their history.
