Mahmudullah came into the crease under tremendous pressure. Bangladesh were 4 wickets down for 33 runs in 11.4 overs in their run-chase to 266 to keep themselves alive in the tournament. The silent killer put on a big partnership with Shakib Al Hasan.
He kept calm when he faced Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Adam Milne, who were getting swings, pace and bounce. After a while, he started to see the ball beautifully and his timing was excellent. He went on to score his fifty iin 58 balls.
Mahmudullah and Shakib were taking the game way away from New Zealand after the 30th over. Shakib went on to score his 7th hundred, 114 off 115. While Mahmudullah’s 3rd ODI century came in 107 balls with a boundary. He remained not out for 102 hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. The partnership between these two was 224.
All of Mahmudullah’s centuries have been in ICC ODI tournaments. He had hit back-to-back tons against England and New Zealand in 2015.
