Toss went in New Zealand’s luck after an hour delay of play. Batting first, the openers Martin Guptill and Luke Ronchi added 46 runs in 7.1 overs. Taskin Ahmed was the wicket-taker on his return to the side.
The Blackcaps posted 60 for 1 in first ten overs. Guptill, who was looking dangerous, got trapped in lbw by Rubel Hossain for 33 off 35 balls with 4 fours and a six. They lost both their openers in space of 5.4 overs.
New Zealand’s walls Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor put on a 83-run partnership for the third wicket. Skipper Williamson scored his third fifty in the tournament. He made 69-ball 57 runs hitting 5 fours before being a victim of run out for the third time in last four ODIs. It was his fourth consecutive 50+ score in the Champions Trophy.
The middle overs were well controlled by Bangladesh, giving 143 runs for three wickets in overs 11-40. Taylor made 63 runs off 82 deliveries including 6 fours.
Like their previous two games, the New Zealand middle-order collapsed again. Part-time off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain brought down destruction in the 44th over when he dismissed Neil Broom for 36 and Corey Anderson for a duck. The rookie went on to pic another wicket.
Bangladesh restricted the Kiwis to 265/8 in 50 overs. Trump card Mosaddek was the most successful bowler in terms of wickets, picking up three for 13 in 3 overs. Taskin took two for 43.
