Afghanistan were victorious in the first ODI by 63 runs. With 1-0 lead, they elected to bat first against the hosts to pull off another win. But they were restricted by West Indies for 135 runs in 37.3 overs. Gulbadin Naib was the top-scorer with his third ODI fifty. He scored 51 runs off 73 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Apart from him, only skipper Asghar Stanikzai (11) and Mohammad Nabi (13) could reach double figures. 15 runs came as extras. From 96/8, Naib took his side to 135/10.
Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each.
In reply, Afghanistan gave some shocks to the hosts. But it wasn’t enough as West Indies reached their target in 39.2 overs. Shai Hope top-scored with unbeaten 48 runs off 77 balls with 3 fours. Evin Lewis scored 33 off 36 at the top.
West Indies lost five wickets for 98 runs in 25 overs. Then Hope kept West Indies’ hopes alive staying till the end. The Caribbeans were victorious by four wickets.
Following a seven-wicket haul in the first ODI, Rashid Khan was good in the second ODI as well. He picked up three wickets for 26 runs in ten overs. Naib was good with the ball too, taking two for 15.
