English pace Chris Woakes suffered a side strain during England’s first game of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. He, later, ruled out of the rest of the tournament and the start of the Test series against South Africa. Now he is likely to miss the entire series at home against Proteas.
English camp is expecting him to be in the team at least for the final Test but the 28 year old pacer found difficulty in moving his bowling arm during the practice sessions. He is yet to be fit for playing a Test match.
England physio has now expressed his hopes to find Woakes in the team in the series against West Indies which is scheduled to begin in the next month.
Another English pacer Jake Ball who is also suffering from a knee trouble, is also likely to miss the third Test against South Africa. He could be available to play T20 for his county team Nottinghamshire next week.
