On this day back in 2006, Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza achieved his career best bowling figures of 6 for 26 in One Day Internationals against Kenya in Nairobi.

Mashrafe who was awarded Man of the Match in that game destroyed Kenya as Tigers took a clean sweep in the three-match one-day series. It was the last match of the three-match ODI series and Mashrafe led Bangladesh to a convincing six-wicket win over Kenya to take the series 3-0.

It was Mortaza who made the difference between the two sides with a superb spell of economical bowling. Not only was it Masheafe’s first five-wicket haul, but recorded the best figures by a Bangladeshi bowler in one-dayers.

It was the introduction of Mashrafe, which turned the match Bangladesh’s way as he cut a swathe through Kenya’s middle-order, also snaffling the prize wicket of their captain, Steve Tikolo, for just 14.

Thomas Odoyo was the 6th man to be dismissed by the fast bowler in the match. Mashrafe enticed him into an injudicious drive, edging it to the wicket-keeper Khaled Mashud Pilot to hand the bowler his sixth wicket.

Masheafe bowling his 10 overs conceded just 26 runs. However, still that brilliant spell from Mashrafe remains as the best of his career.
