The squad for the first of the two Tests will be announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday (August 19) after practice sessions on August 16, 17 and 18. BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon will approve the squad.
According to a report on jagonews24.com, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has informed that the squad will be of 14 men which will include 6+2 = 8 batsmen. Three fast bowlers and three spinners will be included in the squad.
Shakib Al Hasan is a two-in-one player who can bat and spin the ball. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim does the responsibilities of a captain, batsman and wicket-keeper. So, there is no chance of recognizing them for one duty. That’s why an extra batsman might be taken which will make the batsmen list 9. Three pacers and two spinners (other than Shakib) will be picked.
Bangladesh started their training camp last month. They went to Chittagong for a week-long tour and played a practice match among themselves at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The Tigers returned Dhaka and started their practice on Sunday (August 13).
Australian team will arrive in Dhaka on August 18. After a two-dayer warm-up match, they will take on the hosts on August 27 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur which will be followed by the second Test in Chittagong from September 4.
