As India celebrate their 71st Independence Day on Tuesday, former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi tweeted a message of peace, tolerance and love for neighbours India, which has garnered a lot of attention from fans of both sides of the fence.
“Happy Independence Day India! No way to change neighbours, let’s work towards peace, tolerance and love. Let humanity prevail.# HopeNotOut,” he wrote on Twitter.

Following suit, many Afridi fans from Pakistan wished India a happy Independence Day too. They sent their love and best wishes to the neighbours.
Afridi has in the recent past enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Indian cricket team despite the competition on the field.
The 37-year-old had recently thanked India captain Virat Kohli for donating a cricket bat for his foundation.
The India team had also given Afridi a signed jersey on his retirement last April.
It should be noted that 70 years ago, Partition came into effect, dividing British India into two new, independent countries: India and Pakistan. India and Pakistan celebrate their Independence Days 24 hours apart. While Pakistan celebrated on Monday, India are celebrating the 71st year on Tuesday.
