On Wednesday, some three days before starting the first Test in Dhaka, Steven Smith and David Warner have been watched practicing without pads in the net batting sessions.
While explaining the effort, middle order batsman Glenn Maxwell said, “We did this sort of things when Justin Langer was our batting coach in 2012. The aim of this practice is to use bat properly against spin.”
“When you are not protected with pads, you obviously drag your feet out of the bowling line and use your bat. It is to master our defense. This type of practice also enhance confidence level when you think pads are not necessary to protect you, it can be done with the bat,” Maxwell vivaciously defined.
Praising the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Maxwell said, “Bangladeshi spinners bowl consecutively in a line pressurizing upon the defense of a batsman. Practicing in this way would be rather effective for us against them.”
