Aussies to be accompanied by three security managers, one chef

The Australian cricket team, who are due to arrive in Bangladesh today to play a two-match Test series against the Tigers after 11 long years, will be accompanied by at least three security officials and a chef. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the matter on Thursday (August 17). [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ অজিদের নিরাপত্তায় তিনজন ব্যবস্থাপক ও একজন পাচক!]

As per the team list BCB has provided, the Australian team, which is scheduled to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:40pm, will have 18 officials for 14 players.

The tour party includes security managers Sean Carroll, Francesco Dimasi and Robert Simmons along with chef Alatamash Iqbal.

Given that security has been one of the core issues from the very beginning, the BCB officials informed that they were not astonished by the presence of so many security officials.

The presence of a chef with a visiting side is, however, a rare thing, said a BCB official.

“We assume his role would be suggesting the cooks about the food preference of players in hotel and ground. It is not completely a new thing in Bangladesh though. Earlier, India team also bought a chef when they visited us,” said the official.

The two-match Test series will get underway with the first match starting from August 27.
