Australia last toured Bangladesh for a Test series in 2006. Ricky Ponting’s side won the two-match series 2-0. The Fatullah Test still remains one of the iconic Tests played on Bangladesh soil.

Australia were supposed to tour Bangladesh for a Test series in October 2015. But Cricket Australia withdrew from the tour due to security concerns. Australia U-19 team didn’t take part in U-19 World Cup as well in January-February 2016.

The series was pushed back to 2017. However, there were still some uncertainties regarding the series as CA and ACA (Australian Cricketers’ Association) were heated up in pay dispute. The fight ended this month which also confirmed that Australia will be touring Bangladesh.
