Australia turns down to play practice match in BKSP

Water-logged Fatullah set to miss Australia matchTeam Australia is all set to arrive on 18th of August to play a bilateral Test series consists of two matches. The visiting side is scheduled to play a two day practice match in Fatullah before the Test series but due to heavy rain falling in last several weeks there are dirty water clogging in and outside the stadium arena. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has considered BKSP as the alternative venue of the practice match but it is reported that Australian team management is not willing to play the practice match in BKSP because of distance.

Nazmul Hasan Papon said, “We are really worried about the venue of the preparation match. We were ready with BKSP ground to arrange the match but Australian team management repeatedly saying they are not willing to travel an hour to go to BKSP for the practice match.”

“Now we are thinking about any shorter ways to reach there. We have informed them about Sylhet stadium and other two grounds in Dhaka,” Nazmul Hasan said.

BCB Director and Grounds Committee Chairman Hanif Bhuiyan said, “We have not yet cancelled the Fatullah venue. We have started to drain the water from in and outside Fatullah Stadium. We will try our level best to arrange the practice match over there.”
