Former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi is recently has joined Bangladesh cricket team as a spin consultant. The 47-year old has made an instant impression, with the hosts securing their maiden Test win against Australia.
The Bangladesh side, led by Mushfiqur Rahim registered a 20-run victory in the 1st Test match at Mirpur . Out of the 40 wickets, 34 fell to spinners.
The Australians were completely at sea against Ravindra Jadeja in India and it seems Bangladeshi spinners also applied same technique against the same.
“There is one delivery that the Australians are struggling to pick since the India series. I won’t say which one it is till the series ends because I don’t want the Aussies to come up with a counter-plan, but I picked it up when they were playing against India. I have told the Bangladesh bowlers to keep bowling that de livery and it’s working,” Joshi said.
On being asked did Sunil Joshi suggest the Jadeja- template for left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hassan and Taijul Islam, he replied,
“Of course they have seen videos of the way Jadeja and Ashwin bowled during that series. And don’t forget these Bangladeshi spinners themselves have serious quality,” Joshi revealed.
The Bengaluru man gave a lot of credit to Shakib for the way he handled the pressure situations. “There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that he is the leader of the bowling unit,” he signed off.
