According to a reliable sources of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB), it has been learnt that BPL governing council has opted not to arrange opening ceremony due to raising funds and donate it to the flood-affected people.
Hence, the most popular event of Bangladesh domestic cricket, Bangladesh Premier League’s season five will start without any kinds of opening ceremony like previous year’s BPL. Although this year’s BPL was expected to start from 2 November in Dhaka, it is now all set to begin from 3 November, a day later than expected date.
It has been further learnt, the opener match of this year’s BPL is likely to be held in Sylhet.
It was earlier known that eight teams would be participated with Sylhet Surma Sixer’s inclusion in the BPL T20 2017. But, it is now going to be a tournament of seven teams as Barisal Bulls didn’t meet financial terms & conditions of BPL governing council.
To be noted, after Barisal Bull’s exclusion, seven franchise- Dhaka Dynamites, Rajshahi Kings, Khulna Titans, Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings, Comilla Victorians alongside new comer of the tournament, Sylhet Surma Sixers are all set going to partake in this year’s BPL.
