Australia haven’t been in good nick of late, and now the situation is so severe that they are risking an embarrassing slide down the Test rankings if they’re unable to conquer Bangladesh

When the Steve Smith-led side landed in India earlier this year, they had the chance of of reclaiming top spot on the International Cricket Council’s charts.

But now, things have taken such a turnaround that they will to No.6 if Bangladesh win both games during the two-Test series that starts on August 27.

With the Ashes looming on the horizon, the prospect of sitting above only Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe would hardly instil confidence for the mighty Aussies.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh too will pose a big threat for Australia, as they are no more minnows even in the longest format of the game. In last one year, they have beaten the likes of England and Sri Lanka in Tests, and the semifinalists of last Champions Trophy would surely look to maintain their good form in the coming series as well.
