Nasir and Shafiul on the cards

Australia cricket team have finally reached Dhaka on Friday prior to the two-match Test series against the hosts after lots of confusions and uncertainties. Meanwhile, selectors are going to be named 14-member Bangladesh squad on Saturday for the first Test match of Australia series, which is slated to start from 27 August in Dhaka. It is known that veteran member of Bangladesh cricket, Nasir Hossain and pacer Shafiul Islam are all set to make comeback in the squad of Dhaka Test. While, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mominul Haque’s inclusion in the squad are uncertain.

Nasir Hossain has been performing consistently in domestic cricket after being dropped from national side. His consistency of domestic cricket alongside a well-judged fifty in the practice match of intra-squad in Chittagong, have made impression on selectors mind. Hence, they are going to bring back him in the squad. On the other side, Shafiul Islam, who was tremendous with the ball in Tiger’s three-day practice match, has also impressed selectors. So, he is also getting another chance to make a comeback again in Tigers squad.

Apart from this, It is known that Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar are the first choice of selectors for opening pair. Imrul Kayes is likely to play at no three. Meanwhile, Mosaddek Hossain who impressed all on his debut Test in Sri Lanka, has become the automatic choice of selectors and likely to be included of first match squad.

On the contrary, Shakib Al Hasan will lead the spinning attack against the Aussies and he will be joined by Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. As opposed to spinners, three pacers- Mushtafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shafiul Islam are likely to be named in the squad which hints the exclusion of Rubel Hossain, Kamrul Hasan Rabbi and Subhashis Roy.

However, all the speculations will be seen it’s end on Saturday with the announcement of the Tigers squad.
