Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 14-man squad for the first Test on Saturday. All-rounder Nasir was recalled into the Test squad after two years. He played his last Test in 2015 against South Africa in Dhaka.

Since Nasir was dropped, he took the domestic platform to register runs and get back into the side. In the last first-class season, he had aggregated 575 runs in nine matches (12 innings) at 52.27 with one century and three half-centuries

“Performance is the medicine to everything. Whether one is playing with the national team or anywhere else, without performing well you won’t be able to keep your spot,” Nasir said at the press conference on Sunday.

The excited 25-year-old feels performing against Australia can change a player’s approach.

“I am excited. We are playing Australia after 11 years and I haven’t played against Australia before. Australia dominate Test cricket and performing well against them can change one’s approach and career too.”

Nasir was fully focused on performing during the period when he was out of the side.

“I knew that I would have to perform to get into the Test squad. Wherever I have played, whether it’s the national league or the BPL, I have tried to perform,” he said.

When asked about his preparation for the series, he replied, “I had a plan and I stuck to it and scored runs – of course the National Team conditions are different but I intend to stick to my plan.”

The first Test between Bangladesh and Australia will begin from August 27 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
