Bangladesh haven’t played a Test match against Australia since 2006 series in Fatullah and Chittagong which was won by Ricky Ponting’s men by 2-0. Australia have won all four Tests they played against Bangladesh in the history.
The conclusion of pay dispute between Cricket Australia (CA) and Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) meant Australia will be touring Bangladesh for two Tests this month.
“Of course it’s a big opportunity, not only for myself but for the whole team,” said skipper Mushy.
“So everyone is very excited but everyone knows that it is going to be a very difficult challenge.
“There is a belief [among the players] that if we play well we will be able to give Australia a fight.
“We are trying heart and soul [to prepare for the two-Test series against Australia] and since we don’t know when we might be able to play them again, it gives us added motivation to play well,” he added.
Steve Smith’s men will be arriving in Bangladesh on August 18. They will play a two-dayer warm-up game on August 22-23 at BKSP before the series begins. The first Test will begin from on August 27 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. The second Test will be hosted by Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from September 4.
