Batsman Manish Pandey, spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah are the other four players to be recalled into the side. Right-arm medium pacer Shardul Thakur has earned his first national call-up.
Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have been dropped while pacemen Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav have been rested.
Virat Kohli’s men will take on the hosts Sri Lanka on August 20 in the first of the five-match ODIs at Dambulla. The next two ODIs will be held at Pallekele while Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium will host the final two ODIs and sole T20I. India’s tour of Sri Lanka will end on September 6.
